- Brien Shamp
- I am a 5th Generation San Franciscan. I grew up as an athlete spending quality time in the offices of doctors, physical therapists and chiropractor’s looking for answers for my pain. I started training in the gym at the age of 12 on my own and this created an interest in health. I played baseball in college and had an injury at UC Davis that ended my career. I continued with my studies and graduated with a Biomechanics degree. I went to graduate school at SF State where I studied Exercise Physiology and Adapted Physical Education (APE). I taught at Foothill College for 10 years in their APE Program while Personal Training at most health clubs in the bay area. I also kept busy teaching trainers indoor cycling programs and a program I created called the Athletic Training Program (ATP). I won 1st Place in the Met-Rx World's Best Personal Trainer Contest in 1999 and I opened Optimal Fitness Lifestyle Center 2 years later, which closed December 2009. Starting January, 2009, I will be working as an Independent Personal Trainer, Nutrition & Lifestyle Coach at Paye's Sports Performance in San Carlos.
